Not that great...

Obviously I am not that great at updating this blog!  As I would say - Shocking!  I would love to update it more but I just forget.  One day, I'm going to get this blog printed and that can be a gift for Emmy.

What's new with us?  Well, Emmy is no longer at a home daycare but has moved up to the big leagues.  She's at a really great Academy and she is thriving.  There is a ton of stimulation with 20+ kids in her class.  I really like it and hopefully we will see big changes in her.

At the same time of being excited for her to start the Academy, I was also said that she has grown out of Tati's house.  Tati is a wonderful caregiver and gave Emmy a wonderful start.  The last day I dropped her off at Tati's house, I had to reign in the feelings.  I couldn't believe that 2 years ago I had carried her into Tati's house - she was about 14 months old and now, she's skipping, running and jumping her way along.  Time flies, but I absolutely LOVE seeing her grown up.

Speaking of growing up, no baby news to report on.  We are still having some difficulties with creating baby #2 and we've given ourselves one more year to try and have a baby.  If it doesn't happen, then c'est la vie.  We are blessed with one amazing child.

I'll add this link to my bookmark bar so maybe I'll see it more often and drop in and write more.

Until the next time, bye!

Hello blog!

As you will see, I have not been blogging.  Not sure what happened but I think it was a combination of a more active infant and going back to work.  I recently found it and I decided to start up again.  My mom has been bugging me to write down all the funny things that Emmy has been doing because I, apparently, will never remember it!  Shocking....and so true.  I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday so I imagine I won't have too many memories of specific instances.

So what's new with baby E?  Well, first of all, she's not baby E anymore.  She's a wonderful, vibrant almost 3 year old.  I know I am very lucky to have such a wonderful child.  She is happy, curious, bold and hilarious.

We were at my sister-in-law's cottage for new years and here is my kid wanting to try to skate, climbing up the big hill multiple times while tobagging and then going for a ski-doo ride with her Uncle M.  Great times!

She's obsessed with Thomas and Mickey and wants a combined Thomas / Mickey birthday party....hello Mickey, I do believe you will be riding the rails for E's birthday party!  I must go search google images for the twosome.

Here are some other memories:
- E telling me that because my shoulder hurts, I can't read her a book so Daddy has to do it
- her expression at Christmas when she realized that Santa brought her not only LUKE but the Big Island of Sodor to play with!  a side note - i get why parents totally spoil their kids on Christmas.  Seeing their faces is priceless and worth the penny!  We spent 2 hours putting the train set together!

As a family, we feel very blessed and very lucky to have such a normal, healthy happy home life.  I wonder what 2014 has in store for us all?  I'm sending positive thoughts out to the universe!

Happy New Year, Baby!

Why, it's 2012!  Hard to believe but we're no longer in the year of baby E's birth.  Sad but exciting at the same time as it means we're growing, learning and laughing.  Definitely, laughing!  Baby E is so much fun these days and she is really starting to show her preference and personality.

We're in Myrtle Beach with my family as we all rented a house 2 streets north of the beach.  It's been a great vacation as the house is big enough for all of us to have our own space without getting on top of each other.  We, of course, are on the main floor as we sometimes get up at 5.30am to deal with Baby E and no one else wants to hear us!

Today we took a road trip to Wilmington, North Carolina to see where Dawson's Creek was filmed.  It really was fun and made me feel like a teenager again.  Dawson's was such a big deal when I was in University - Pacey's line "wanna frost my tips?" - still makes me laugh!  Just ask any of my university friends, I was obsessed.  It makes me wonder what E will be obsessed with when she's a teenager; hopefully, Justin Bieber will not be singing!

2012 will be exciting as there are so many changes on the horizon.  I need to find a new job and baby E will have to go to daycare :( - very sad to think I won't be spending every day with her.

More exciting news to follow about what our hopes and dreams and goals are for 2012.  Stay tuned, Baby E!

Painting, again!

Big excitement, Emmy passed her first level in swimming lessons!  Woo hoo!  She's well on her way to becoming a lifeguard!  Hee hee!

Today we painted baby E's big girl room.  The paint colour is called "Victorian Lace" by Benjamin Moore.  Love the colour as it is very pale - almost white in spots - but you can definitely tell it's pink!

My parents came up twice this week to help out with things.  Because there was wallpaper on the bottom half of the wall in her new room, my mom painted it with an oil based primer on Friday.  Good thing it was beautiful outside because we had the windows wide open; even with the paint being odor free!

Yesterday, we went to Derek & Annette's for a big brunch as Aunt Judy was in town from Saskatchewan.  There was about 15 people there, including baby E!  She was dressed in a purple tutu, she looked so cute.

Last night, hubby and I just chilled out.  We watched a movie downstairs in the basement with the fire on - the only problem was that we couldn't figure out how to turn it off!  Somehow we managed to, but we really need to read the directions about the remote control!

Tomorrow....what's on tap for tomorrow....

Lists!
1.  Go for a walk with E
2.  Finish laundry
3.  Dismantle bed frame (and move to basement)
4.  must go and consult my other list! I'm the queen of lists, just ask hubby!

:)
love you, baby E!

What a day!

Today we went for a walk around Joker's Hill in Newmarket.  I had baby E in a backpack and it was GREAT!  It was nice to get out with other mom's and just talk about babies and other fun stuff.  It's a great place to get advice.  They all knew each other from Stroller Mates which is the mall walking group. They meet Tuesday & Thursday so I think I might go - but it starts at 8.30am so I will have to be up early!

Things are fun these days!

Happy Hallowe'en...well, belated wishes!

I can't believe it's November 1st.  Where has the time gone.  I'm hanging out in front of the tv but I'm on the computer as well because tv is just so darn boring these days.  The only show I really, really like is "Hart of Dixie".

Baby E is doing well.  She suffered through an extreme bought of constipation; I've never seen anything as terrible as that.  She was straining so hard she was shaking.  Finally, she was able to pass it.  Thank god!

Other than that, life has been good for the little one.  We've had some fun these past couple of days hanging out with various people.  Last night she was a pumpkin and we took her to visit her Nana & Grandpa and her cousins in Oak Ridges.

Oh wait, yesterday was a tough day.  I was finishing stroller fitness and I had given her a baby mum-mum.  She managed to choke on it and I couldn't fish it out so I had to immediately flip her over on my arm and proceed to do infant choking.  It was terrible and brought me immediately back to the day we brought her back from the hospital when she turned a terrible shade of blue because she stopped breathing.  Oh the drama!

I'm now addicted to martha stewart craft punches.  I've got like 5 bids going on ebay and I've already succeeded with one.  Hopefully it will arrive soon!

On the mend!

I finally feel like I can say that we have, hopefully, turned the tide in this sickness.  Last night, she slept from about 7pm to 5.30am with one or two wake ups.  And she didn't have the vapourizer on
